- Epitronics is developing GaN, AlGaN and InGaN epitaxial layers and device structures on sapphire and silicon carbide substrates with customers and under contract with the U.S. Government. The direct bandgap permits efficient blue and UV lasers which could be the key to the development of high density optical storage, novel communication systems, industrial and medical lasers, and specialized spectroscopic tools. These material characteristics also enable high brightness GaN LEDs for daylight-visible full color displays.
